SEAWORLD ICE SKATING SHOW EXTENDED THROUGH JAN. 7:

SeaWorld’s all-new ice skating extravaganza, Winter Wonderland on Ice, has been extended through Jan. 7. Featuring champion skaters from around the world performing more than a dozen skating routines to classic Christmas songs, this popular live show is performed under the stars at SeaWorld’s Nautilus Amphitheater.

SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration’s remaining festivities— including the new Cirque Christmas show, Sesame Street Christmas Village, Rudolph’s Christmastown, Christmas-themed animal shows and more than a million holiday lights—come to a close on Jan. 5.

’TIS ALSO THE SEASON FOR PENGUIN CHICKS:

SeaWorld will welcome adorable penguin chicks just in time for Christmas! Nearly a dozen Adélie and chinstrap eggs are expected to hatch between Dec. 16 and 31 inside the 25-degree Penguin Encounter. Guests will be able to see the chicks from the viewing area about three weeks after hatching, when the chicks emerge from underneath the parent’s brood patch and stand next to them. By about three months of age, the chicks will have waterproof feathers and learn to swim. SeaWorld is world renowned for its penguin breeding program, with more than 1,000 chicks hatched since 1980, including the world’s first emperor penguins.

In addition to Adélie, chinstrap and emperors, the Penguin Encounter is also home to

three other species: gentoo, macaroni and king. Penguins are the second most endangered of all seabirds, and all of SeaWorld’s penguins are part of SSPs (Species Survival Plans), which were established to address the concerns of population sustainability based on genetic variability and demographic representation.

HOLIDAY BOWL TEAM DAY AT SEAWORLD:

Football players and coaches from the USC Trojans will enjoy a visit to Southern California’s premier marine-life park on Christmas Day (Dec. 25). The Trojans will meet some of SeaWorld’s most beloved animals up close and take in a little holiday cheer during SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration. The visit to SeaWorld is a fun outing while the team

is in town for the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 27 at SDCCU Stadium, when the Trojans take on the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Holiday Bowl has been a tradition in San Diego since 1978.
